An t'Eilean
An t’Eilean (Gaelic), The Island, is a physical manifestation of the theoretical underpinnings in my work.
An experiment, an open frame through which I call on people to make and remake a discursive exhibition. Thework seeks distinctiveness and value in our everyday encounters with external spaces and as such the work itselfis orientated to action.
Key questions in the genesis of the work: How do we challenge the management of public spaces at an Institutional level to make landscapes that are real andenlivening?
What are the principles that lie behind our encounters with public space and public art?
An t’ Eilean won the public vote at the 2014 Landscape Institute Awards in Scotland.
